Dear friend of the Academicals,
I hope you have all had a pleasant summer, enjoying all of the wonderful sunshine that we've (not) had. You're probably thinking "what I need is a really big party, with loads of my old hockey friends from university, to banish away the blues. It's a shame that nothing is organised".
Well fear not, because something is organised! As previously discussed, the Academicals are now 5 years old, and we will be celebrating in style. We are holding a Dinner Dance at UCL on Saturday 29th September.

As we get to a third of the way through the season it appears to be all the usual suspects rising to the top of the table. The ladies, sweeping all before them, unsuprisingly occupy the top spot and split eight of the top 9 with the men's 1st XI.
The men's 2s have a sole representative in the top 9, penalty taker extraordinaire, Anthony Pears creeping in at 7th equal.
Straight Kate leads the table, with The People's Champion Eb "Mad Dog" Mukhtar in 2nd overall and heading up the men's side of the club.
Tom Sangtaweep, the man who puts the "Special" into Penalty Corner Specialist, has chalked up 5 strikes and is the leading student, pipping Emily "Gonads" Goddard who has 4 for the ladies.
