About Us

The London Academicals Hockey Club was formed by mixture of Graduates, ex-students and friends who met at University College London in the early years of the new millennium.

Having grown steadily from the early years and a small number of founding members, this summer has provided a chance to celebrate what the Club has achieved but also to produce a blueprint for the future development. Over the summer the ‘ Accies’ as we are known have undergone a thorough, detailed and insightful re-branding exercise which
has successfully highlighted and outlined what, as a Club defines us.

The Accies is a club driven and represented by friendly people who share a love of competitive sport. We have a sense of humour and are strongly community minded. The club is unique because it offers its members a close-knit support network that extends beyond the pitch, into the clubhouse, wider social circles, and even professional life.

On the hockey pitch, the Accies provide a diverse range of hockey for all standards. Both the Men’ s and Ladies section turn out 3 teams on a Saturday. Our home ground is the Old Cranleighans Hockey Club in Thames Ditton, Surrey.

The whole club train together at the fabulous facilities of the University of Westminster Sports Ground at Chiswick in South West London including one of the best, water-based astroturf pitches in the capital.
